Bombeiros Voluntários

O motivo de eu ter escolhido esta imagem, é que para além de eu fazer parte da corporação de Bombeiros Voluntários aqui de Odivelas, eu acho bastante gratificante o trabalho que eles exercem diariamente, e a vontade de ajudar o próximo.Tenho muito orgulho, não só pelos bombeiros do meu quartel, mas sim por todos os bombeiros portugueses. Porque ser bombeiro é muito mais que salvar vidas. Ser bombeiro é... ir a uma ocorrência ou a uma saída para incêndio só com ida, sem saber se teremos volta,  e sem saber o que encontraremos por lá, é abraçar um desconhecido, com o mesmo carinho que se abraça um amigo, é acalmar com palavras, (...) ser bombeiro é vida por vida! E ao fim do dia, nada se compara à sensação de dever cumprido! 

Para inglês: The reason I chose this image is that besides being part of the Volunteer Fire Corporation here in Odivelas, I find it very gratifying the work they do daily, and the desire to help others. I am very proud, not only by the firefighters in my barracks, but by all the Portuguese firefighters. Because being a firefighter is much more than saving lives. Being a firefighter is ... going to a occurrence or fire exit, not knowing if we will have a return, and not knowing what we will find there, is embracing a stranger, with the same affection that a friend embraces, It's soothing with words,(...) being a firefighter is life for life! And at the end of the day, nothing compares to the sense of accomplishment!
